Hence, prov.: quas tu edes colubras?

i. e. art thou frantic? Plaut. Stich. 2, 1, 50 Ritschl N. cr.; and:

colubra restem non parit,

i.e. like produces like, the thorn does not produce grapes, Petr. 45, 9.
